HOSTEL COMMITTEE

ABOUT

A hostel committee typically refers to a group of individuals responsible for overseeing the management, operations, and welfare of a hostel or dormitory facility. The committee may consist of students, staff members, and/or administrators, depending on the structure of the institution.

MANAGEMENT OF THE HOSTELS

        The hostels are under the immediate supervision of the Principal, who serves as the Warden. The Warden will receive support from Co-Wardens and a Faculty Coordinator.

HOSTEL AND MESS COMMITTEE

The hostel and mess committee is formed with the Warden acting as President, alongside the faculty coordinator and Student Representatives from the hostels. The committee establishes rules and guidelines periodically for efficient hostel management. Residents must comply with these rules and regulations. Lack of awareness of the rules will not be considered an excuse. Any breach of rules and regulations will be dealt with severely. If required the duties and responsibilities are subject to change at any time with the approval from head of the institution.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF HOSTEL WARDEN

  1. Responsible for allotment of rooms to the students.
  2. Responsible for maintenance of the hostels.
  3. Looks after the quality of food served in the hostels.
  4. Keeps strict discipline among students of the hostels.
  5. Reports to the Director in case of any indiscipline or misbehavior by the students.
  6. Looks into the grievances/complaints of the students if found genuine.
  7. Arranges for first-aid in case of any emergency and arrange for hospitalization of student/staff, if required.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

  1. The room should be maintained neatly.
  2. The students of the individual room are responsible for all the things in the room.
  3. Without out-pass students are not permitted to went from the hostel.
  4. Study hours (08.30 p.m. to 10.00 p.m.) should be strictly followed.
  5. Playing audio / video system is not permitted.
  6. Keeping cell-phone inside the hostel is strictly prohibited.
  7. Playing cards and games or breaking eggs inside the hostel are not allowed.
  8. Smoking and taking liquor is strictly prohibited.
  9. Whistling, banging the doors, birthday celebrations and making unnecessary noise are not permitted inside the hostel.
  10. Pasting posters, spilling the tea on the wall and writing on the wall are strictly restricted.
  11. Each student should have their own bucket, bed, bed sheet and pillow.
  12. The mess time should be strictly followed.
    • Breakfast – 7.30am to 8.45am
    • Lunch – 12.20pm to 1.45pm
    • Snacks – 4pm to 5pm
    • Dinner – 7pm to 8pm
  1. Taking food outside the mess is not permitted.
  2. Day-scholars are not permitted to enter inside the Hostel.
  3. No one is permitted to enter inside the kitchen.
  4. After eating food diners shall leave the plate, waste food etc., in the designated bins
  5. Shouting in the mess is not permitted.
  6. Before leaving the room, the fan and light should be switched off and the door should be locked.
  7. Roll calls will be conducted commonly after dinner time from 8.15pm to 8.30pm at ground floor
  8. The hostel main gate will be closed at 08.15 p.m.
  9. A student suffering from infections/contagious diseases will not be permitted to stat in the hostel
  10. In case students falls sick, he/she should immediately contact the doctor/institute dispensary and get the medical aid.
  11. Every student should be responsible to keep his belongings (wallet, laptop, phone etc.) safe. Room must be locked while leaving.
  12. Students should not wear sleeveless dress while coming to roll call and mess.
  13. Students going out of the campus for any reason must make an entry in the IN/OUT register.
  14. Ragging is a punishable crime our hostel. Don’t go to seniors in junior room and vice versa.
  15. Separate fee structure is there for AC and Non AC room as per management direction.
  16. All visitors to the hostel are allowed to visit students between 9am to 6pm.

PROCEDURE FOR LEAVING THE HOSTEL PERMANENTLY

  1. Whenever a student wishes to leave the hostel, he has to submit an application to the Warden through the Dy. Warden.
  2. Only after getting the approval the student can leave the hostel. While leaving the hostel the student has to hand over the furniture and electrical fittings to get a clearance certificate from the Dy. Warden.
  3. At the time of leaving the student has to sign the hostel leaving register.
  4. The student has to pay the establishment and power charges for that mess month even if the student has taken food for a part of the mess month.
