Institution’s Innovation Council Cell

Overview

OVERVIEW

The Government of India’s Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has instituted the MIC to cultivate a culture of innovation across all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in a systematic manner. The Institution’s Innovation Council has been established in accordance with the guidelines of the MHRD-IJC initiative. The council’s activities are systematically scheduled to foster innovative thinking among students. A network of these IICs will be created to foster innovation within the institution through various methods, resulting in the development of an innovation-promoting ecosystem within these campuses. Periodic workshops and seminars aimed at enhancing cognitive abilities and boot camps for entrepreneurship development are organized for the students.

Functions

FUNCTIONS OF IIC

  1. Develop an Institution’s Innovation portal to showcase innovative projects undertaken by faculty and students.
  2. Foster innovation within the institution through diverse approaches, resulting in the establishment of an innovation-promoting ecosystem on campus.
  3. Conduct various innovation and entrepreneurship-related activities outlined by the Central MIC within specified timeframes.
  4. Host regular workshops, seminars, and interactions with entrepreneurs, investors, and professionals, and establish a mentor pool for student innovators.
  5. Recognize and reward innovations while sharing success stories.
  6. Arrange Hackathons, idea competitions, mini-challenges, etc., involving industries.
  7. Create a functional ecosystem for identifying and pre-incubating ideas.
  8. Establish mechanisms to support start-ups and entrepreneurship within Higher Education Institutions.
